Listen to Obituary

Robert “Bob” John VonStein II, 80, of Kent, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family at his home.

Born in Ravenna, Ohio on September 12h, 1945 and raised in Kent, where he met the love of his life, Judy. He graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School class of 1964. After graduation, Bob worked at RF Cook Manufacturing Co. and then General Motors as a toolmaker until his retirement.

Bob and Judy were married on February 3rd, 1962, where they went on to build a life together full of love, faith, and lots of laughter. His favorite past times included golfing, camping, gardening, bird watching, fishing, boating and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Streetsboro and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy, daughter Beth (Gideon) Oswitch, son Robert (Laura) VonStein III, three granddaughters, Madeline (Cynthia Acosta) VonStein, Sadie (Sam) DeMars, Celia Oswitch, and his beloved four-legged companion, Cooper. Bob is survived by his siblings Larry VonStein (Jean) Kay Lynn VonStein and sister-in-law Laura VonStein. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Phyllis VonStein, brother Andrew VonStein, and sisters Darlene Wagner and Roberta Stanley. He will be missed by many nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A private ceremony with immediate family will be held to celebrate Bob’s life. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery, with their plot near the river so those who visit will be able to enjoy the gifts of nature while sitting on our bench as Bob loved to do.

His family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Reserve Care Hospice and his wonderful caregiver who helped us during the last few weeks.

Bob’s joyful spirit, positive attitude, and loving heart made him the easiest man to get along with. He was a loving husband, father, and papa, but most importantly a friend to all. He will be deeply missed and live on in the hearts of many and will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reserve Care Hospice (formerly Hospital of the Western Reserve).
