Together Again

On December 1, 2025, we said goodbye to Robert L. Nestor—a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Bob built a life defined by showing up for his friends and family without hesitation. He joined the U.S. Army in 1965 and served proudly as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. Often seen wearing his Vietnam Veteran hat, he carried the values of service, loyalty, and resilience throughout his life. Bob retired from RCA Rubber after 30 years of dedicated service.

Bob was well known for his lifelong talent for haggling and often came home with another “great find,” whether it was an old car to fix up, a trailer full of bicycles, or any number of other unexpected “treasures.”

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of nearly 50 years, Nila R. Nestor; his son, James Randall “Randy” Nestor; his parents, Maxine and Harvey “Moe” Moulton; and his sister, Susan King.

He is survived by his daughter, Teri Marino (Larry); his son, Mark Nestor; his aunt, Marge Reese (Don); his grandchildren Melissa Nestor (Marcas), Niki Hinkle (Ryan), Brittany Michael (Zack), Nikki Taylor (Joe), and Michael Marino (Sara); as well as his great-grandchildren Lee, Nevaeh, Milo, Jackson, Anderson, Harrison, Greyson, and Vincent—all of whom were the pride of his life. He also leaves behind his beloved cats, faithful companions who brought him comfort and company.

He will be remembered for his grit and the ornery sparkle in his eye. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the memories treasured by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will take place later at Hillside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations to a dementia/alzheimer's Foundation or animal shelter of your choice.
