Robert James Beam, 44, of Akron, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2015 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Bob was born on December 8, 1970 in North Charleston, South Carolina. Bob served as a firefighter and EMT with the Orrville Fire Department for over 15 years. He was a long distance truck driver with West Side Transportation of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and home projects. He loved spending time with his son, Douglas and he enjoyed taking him on Boy Scouts camping trips and to taekwondo lessons. Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary Monaghan-Beam; son, Douglas Beam; mother, Kathleen (Bill) Fuqua; father, Orville (Corrine) Beam; sister, Diana Bucher; brothers, Charles (Monica) Beam and Joseph (Bettina) Beam; several stepbrothers and stepsisters; parents-in-law, Ed and Beth Monaghan; brother-in-law, Edwin Monaghan; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 10-12 followed by a 12 noon memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. On March 20, 2015 the Holy Family Catholic Church school mass at 8:55 a.m. will be intended for the repose of Robert's soul. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his son Doug's Boy Scout Troop 177, c/o Holy Family Catholic Church, 3179 Kent Rd., Stow, OH 44224.
