Robert Allen Harper, 72, of Akron, passed away at home on March 11, 2026. Known to his family as Robby, he was born in Ravenna, Ohio on April 7, 1953.

Robby enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and proudly served from 1970-1973, stationed in Germany as an Engineer. Through friends, Robby met a local girl, Elizabeth Mongold and they quickly fell in love. They married on December 3, 1977 and settled in Akron. Their family grew to include two children, Amber and Andrew.

Robby spent his career with the City of Akron as a crew leader in the Keep Akron Beautiful Department, CSD. He retired after 30 years of service.

There was never a dull moment when Robby was around. He had so many interests and passions to keep him busy. He was a gifted mechanic and loved to restore classic cars and to this day still owns a '68 Firebird and '73 Chevelle. He took great pride in his children and as they developed interests, he took on those same interests. He coached his son in wrestling and was an enthusiastic supporter of both children's baseball and softball teams. When the kids joined the school band, Robby developed a deep interest in famous flute and clarinet players. He was accomplished in tae kwon do and encouraged his children to learn the practice, going so far as to create a mini dojo in the family's basement.

On weekends, Robby and Beth made sure to set aside time for family activities. Many priceless memories were made while fishing from their boat on local lakes and bowling a few frames on Sunday afternoons.

Robby was a wonderful husband and father, but he really took to his role as "Pop Pop" when his grandchildren arrived. He would do anything for them and loved to watch them grow.

Robby was preceded in death by his beloved son, Andrew Robert Harper; mother, Eleanor Authenreith; sister, Tammie Authenreith; and brother, Gary Authenreith.

Robby will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Harper; daughter and daughter-in-law, Amber and Beth Bailey; grandchildren, Ava and Jack; and brother Michael (Danette) Authenreith.

Per Robby's wishes, there will be no formal services. His family will celebrate his life privately.
