Robert A. Chatman

Robert A. Chatman, 72, of Akron, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 23, 2014 after many years of illness. Bob graduated from Ellet High School. He was an Akron firefighter for 19 years and took part in the first paramedic run in the city. He retired from the Akron City Water Department. In his free time, Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. He also had a talent for gardening and woodworking. Bob's family and friends will always remember his wonderful sense of humor that never failed, even in his final days.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Marylou Chatman; children, Kelly Stemple and Michael Chatman; stepdaughter, Jane (Mark) Deaton; brother, Mark (Yolanda) Chatman; grandchildren, Erin Stemple, Brittany Kelly, Taylor Chatman, Johnny Deaton, Jennifer Deaton, and Jessica Deaton; three great-grandchildren. He also leaves his beloved dog, Pajo.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 5-7 followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
