Rita Parkins, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 26, 2015.
Rita was born on April 9, 1931 in Middlebranch, Ohio to Ruth and Walter
Gottshall.
Rita retired after working 25 years at Akron City Hospital.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening in the summer and participated in the Fall Hiking sprees through the Metro Parks with her husband, Frank. She loved to travel and visit relatives in California. Winter was quilting and reading time.
Rita is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Frank Parkins; sons, Donald Parkins and Gerald Parkins (Kathy); grandchildren, Peter Parkins, Erica Laymon (Donald) and Lauren Parkins; great-grandchild, Dillon
Laymon.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 31, 2015 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road (Route 91) Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will follow. Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park.
Donations may be made to Hospice of VNS in Rita's honor.
