Rita C. Bearer Reed
Rita C. Bearer Reed passed peacefully April 26, 2015. Rita was born on August 5, 1928 in Carrolltown, PA to Margaret and Elmer Bearer. Rita lived in the Akron area her entire life, graduating from Hower Vocational High School. She enjoyed church services, family gatherings, crazy hats, parades, and decorating for the holidays. Rita worked in food service retiring from Ellet High School in 1997. She moved from the Ellet area to Annunciation Terrace where she organized activities and bake sales.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Debra Bever; son in-law, Robert Ross; sisters, Jane Hartman, Edna Leach, Elsie Diefendorf, Doris Bittner, and brother, Paul Bearer. Rita leaves to cherish her memory,daughters, Barbara (Dave) Bloom, Nancy Ross, Carol Armstrong, Susan (James) Smith; sons, Michael (Kay) and Steven; son in-law, Rick Bever; brothers, Joe (Sue), Patrick (Gail); and sister in-law, Jeanne Bearer. She will also be in the hearts of her 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Sunday May 3, 2015 from 2-5pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2015 at 10am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman OH. Pastor Mike Hirschfelt officiating.
