Richard Michael Zsembik

Richard Michael Zsembik, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026 at the age of 91. He was born on April 22, 1935 in Cleveland.

Richard was a proud lifelong Clevelander and devoted baseball and hockey fan. He attended St. Francis de Sales Elementary School in Parma, Ohio, and St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. He later continued his education at Xavier University and Kent State University.

In 1972, Richard and his family moved to Akron, where he began a 27-year career with the City of Akron before retiring in 1999. His love of Cleveland sports, especially baseball, was a defining part of his life. Richard worked as an usher for the Cleveland Indians for more than 35 years. He also worked for the Cleveland Browns and served as a statistician for the Cleveland Barons hockey team. His dedication to Cleveland sports brought him many cherished memories and friendships throughout the years. Outside of work and sports, Richard also enjoyed polka dancing in his younger years.

Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ann; his nine children; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Sebastian Parish, 476 Mull Ave, Akron, OH 44320 on Friday, August 28th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation an hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private inurnment will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, where Richard will be laid to rest.
