It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Richard Alan Miksch, age 70. Rick went on his journey to Heaven on December 17, 2025, after a long illness. Rick lived his entire life in Kenmore and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1974. Rick was very active in sports as a child, and played football for the Kenmore Cardinals where he earned All-City honors. Rick was a Mensa member for many years. After graduating, Rick joined the US Navy, where he served for 10 years mostly aboard warships. After leaving the Navy, Rick worked for Medina County in their wastewater treatment facility.
Anyone who knew Rick knew that he was a one of a kind sort of guy. “Larger than life” probably doesn’t do him justice. He loved to play golf and hang out with his friends and family. He was a storyteller extraordinaire, and he always made us laugh. Rick will be sorely missed.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard R. Miksch and his mother Elizabeth Jane (Francisco) Miksch. Left to mourn him are his brother Thomas (Susan) Miksch of Munroe Falls, OH, and sisters Cathy (John) Blackert of Norton, OH, Sandra Hogsed of West Virginia, and Nancy Lichtenberger of Uniontown, OH. Rick also loved his nieces and nephews and their children.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be conducted at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s name can be made to either the Disabled American Vets or the Veterans of Foreign Wars, two organizations that he supported.
