Richard D. Candle, 83, of Akron, passed away April 22, 2013. He was born in Marlboro, OH on March 20, 1930 to the late Julius and Julia Candle. He graduated from Marlboro High School in 1948 and the University of Akron with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Army veteran in the Korean Conflict. Dick worked 17 years at Goodyear Research and 26 years as a manager with Goodyear Industrial Products.He wrote the constitution for the E.A.A.A. Association which benefited all Ellet young people and all sports. He was active for many years. He was a deacon and elder emeritus at New Horizons Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and John; sisters, Marie Olson, Rosie Tormasi, Velma Evers and Betty Perez.
Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carroll; children, Mark (Bonnie), Kirk (Debbie), Craig (Paula), Scott; grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew (Sara), Julie (Luke) Johnson, Kyle, Emily (Brent) Veverka, Holly, Bethany, Jessica (Matt) Lins, Greg, Kevin and Eric; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Piper Robertson, Lilly Hale, Emma and Dyllan Lins, Deona Candle, Gage Johnson.
Family and friends may call on Wed., April 24, from 4-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., and Thurs., April 25 from 11-12 at New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Rd., Akron where funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Jim Bane. Interment at Marlboro Cemetery.
