Sergeant First Class Richard D. Clinton Jr, United States Army, 56, died on September 28th 2026. Richard was born on August 30th 1970, in Madison Wisconsin. His parents are Rick (Jeanne) Clinton and Marilyn ( Tim ) Kowing. He graduated from Oregon High School in 1988, and worked in architectural sheet metal before enlisting in the United States Army in 1992.

Rick served faithfully as an infantryman with the 3rd Ranger Battalion. He was an 18 Charlie with the 3rd Special Forces Group. Rick was also a non commissioned officer in charge of The Evasion phase of SERE school. He also served as a platoon sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division. Rick had 8 tours in combat and was a hero to his family and his country.

After his dutiful 21 years of service, Rick found his place in the world by serving God and becoming an ordained minister. Rick loved God and people. He was a pastor for incarcerated youth at a boys facility where he reached their souls with Jesus and was very proud of them. Rick went on missions trips globally and tithed faithfully. He also served at his local church as a volunteer for elementary kids with his wife. He was known as “Rambo” working with family at Duma Meats, and Duma Deer. Rick then went into partnership with his best friend, Davey Duma.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Lou Bogaki; mother, Marilyn Kowing; many military brothers and friends. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Deborah Duma Clinton; children, Tyler Clinton, Isaac (Fiona) Clinton, Cole Clinton, Shiloh (Freddy) Perry, Seth Bell; grandchildren, Bjorn, Torven, Malachi, Kalei, Olivia, Odin; sisters, Tonia (Keith) Allen, Denise Clinton, Tammy Weber, Patty (Rusty) Starcher; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be a celebration of life service Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Five39 Church, 688 Dan St, Akron, OH 44310, with Pastor Mike Duma officiating. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Rick's name to their local Veteran's organization.
