Richard B. Carlson

January 29, 1933 — June 15, 2025

Richard B. Carlson, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to the late Clarence and Nellie Carlson. Richard graduated from Kent State University with a degree in architecture. He spent two years serving in the U.S. Army before beginning his career. Over four decades, Richard excelled in his career with various private architecture firms.

In his free time, Richard loved being outdoors in his garden. He planted a substantial fruit and vegetable garden every year and loved tending to it.

Richard's faith was very important to him. He was a faithful member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Akron as well as St. Mark Lutheran Church in Tallmadge.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Marilyn Carlson; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Richard Bailey.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Julianne Carlson, and sons Erik (Shannon) Carlson, David Henderson, and Harry Henderson; grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, and Alivia; sister-in-law, Helen Andrew; as well as several nieces, nephews, and good friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 3:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 pm until the start of the service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 158 North Ave., Tallmadge, Ohio 44278.
