Richard C. Bais, 72, of Rootstown, passed away December 25, 2014 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Akron on October 27, 1942 to the late Michael and Julia Bais Sr. Richard served honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for Goodrich Aerospace for many years and most recently worked as a polisher at Sterling Jewelers. He had a wonderful voice and enjoyed singing in the First Grace United Church choir as well as with the SPEBSQSA Barbershop Choir. His hobbies included bowling, baseball, golf, gardening, and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Bais Jr.; sister, Irene Jones; and beloved dog, Sandy. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Carol A. Bais; mother-in-law, Mary Hausch; brothers-in-law, Larry Hausch and Alan Kaptain; sister-in-law, Julie Kaptain; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 3-7 followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron or the American Cancer Society.
