Rebecca Sue "Becky" Griggs

Rebecca Sue "Becky" Griggs 71, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026. Born in Akron to John Griggs and Elois Askea, she was a lifelong area resident. After retiring from Wonder Bread with 25 years of service, Becky worked as a courtesy driver for local car dealerships. Becky was a pilot who enjoyed flying, skydiving, helping others, attending concerts, being a mom figure to the neighborhood kids, participating in church plays, spending time with her family and most of all, being a mom.

In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Griggs; close companion, Ron Swonger. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Jamie (Jerek) Gerard; grandson, Liam Gerard; siblings, Dennis (Sondra) Griggs, Tina (Chris) Flight; nieces, Tonya, Kara, Kimmy, Coleen; nephews, Richard, Joe; great nieces, Penny, Karmen, Lainey, London; great nephews, NJ, Andre, Jonnah, Oliver, Micah, Jesse, Isaiah, Logan, Atticus.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. Those who wish may make memorial donations directly to the family.
