Raymond L. Golden, 88, passed away suddenly on January 6, 2015.
He was born on August 13, 1926 to Ray and Luvada Golden in Akron. He graduated from East High School and attended Akron University at the age of 16. Before entering the workforce, Ray sailed the Great Lakes as a Merchant Marine. Ray was a draftsman and retired from Akromold in 1992. He enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle and piloting (flying) a Piper Cub after getting his pilots license in 1984. Ray was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Mount Akra Masonic Lodge.
Preceding him in death was his loving wife, Joan; son-in-law, Jim Wiant; and brother, Don Golden.
He is survived by his loving family, including children, Dirk (Paula), Babette (Cindy Riddell) Golden, and Laura Wiant, all of Mogadore; grandchildren, Paul and Jack Golden, Jamie (Delmar) Wiant-Hardin, and Carly (fiancée Nick Ashmore) Wiant; and great-granddaughter, Estella Jo Wiant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mogadore Fire and EMS, 135 South Cleveland Ave. Mogadore, OH 44260. He was a wonderful Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.
Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-5 p.m. with a 4 p.m. Masonic service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore.
