Phyllis M. Bishop, 87, joined her husband, Richard, on September 21, 2014.
They shared 38 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1982. She was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church for 67 years. Phyllis retired from Firestone Park Elementary School in 1992, after 35 years of service. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and spending time with family.
Survivors include children, Wendy Bishop, Karla (Marty) Beech, Richard (Peggy), and Don (Pam); 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, David A. Smith.
A visitation will be held Friday, 12-1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Firestone Park Elementary School PTA, Phyllis M. Bishop Scholarship Fund.
