Phyllis M. Harrison

Phyllis M. Harrison, 89, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on April 4, 2026. She was born on September 22, 1936 the daughter of the late Arnold and Mary Belle Luther of Portsmouth, Ohio. Phyllis had a strong faith and lived a life marked by strength, conviction, and an enduring commitment to her beliefs. Her strong faith was a cornerstone of her character, guiding her actions. She inspired those around her with her beautiful gift of music with the songs she would sing, her skill at playing the upright bass, and being a cherished member of the Blue Grass Band Pine Ridge Ramblers.

She always enjoyed being with her family especially playing a card game of Pedro or 500 Rummy. She loved taking vacations to Vegas while playing her favorite slot machines and working on her jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Joe Harrison; husband Roy Harrison; granddaughter Skyler; and siblings Arnold, Richard, Francis, Helen, David, Philip, Miriam, and Albert.

Phyllis is survived by her loving family, children Barbara (Keith) Casto, David (Sharon) Harrison, Michael Harrison, and Trena (Nancy) Harrison; grandchildren Christina, Jessica, Joey, Kyle, Brittany, Tiffany, Donald, and Dave; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Billy; daughter-in-law Pam Harrison; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday, April 13th and 11:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held Tuesday at 12:00pm.

Interment will take place at Tallmadge Cemetery.
