Phyllis Marie Falkenstein

Phyllis Marie Falkenstein, born on January 17, 1936, in Ladd Ridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Akron, Ohio. She lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a genuine passion for education and the arts.

Phyllis graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and went on to earn a degree in Education from Kent State University. Her commitment to fostering learning in young minds as a substitute teacher for Kent City Schools was cherished by her students and colleagues alike. She also worked for Sears in both Canton and Cleveland.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Phyllis poured her heart into her hobbies and interests. She was a proud member of the Sweet Adaline's singing group, where her love for music could shine and resonate with others. Phyllis found joy in watching home improvement shows, delighting in the creativity and imagination they inspired. She cherished the moments spent dining out with friends, relishing both food and camaraderie.

Phyllis leaves behind her beloved son, Michael Falkenstein, and her cherished granddaughter, Hillary Ball, both who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mary (Somervile) McCann; her dear husband, Joe Falkenstein; and her sisters, Mildred Jordan and Mary Thompson. The loss of Phyllis will be deeply felt among her cousins, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Phyllis Marie Falkenstein will be remembered for her unyielding spirit, devotion to education, and the melodic joy she brought into the lives of those around her. She touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a cherished memory that will endure in the lives she influenced and loved.

A Committal of Cremains will be held Thursday 2 PM, August 7th at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. ENTER THE CEMETERY AT THE SOUTH MAIN STREET ENTRANCE. PROCEED TO THE STOP SIGN AND THE MAUSOLEUM IS ON THE LEFT.
