Peter P. Mihaly

Peter "Pete" Patrick Mihaly, 77, of Columbus, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Manor at Whitehall. He was born March 17, 1936 in Akron, son of the late Peter H. and Susan E. "Betty" Varhol Mihaly. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Russo Mihaly; brothers, Gregory S. Mihaly and Robert A. Mihaly; sister, Agnes A. Gorbach.
He was a 1954 graduate of Springfield High School. Pete served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1954-1962 in the Lighter Than Air (Blimp) Unit. He retired from Continental Baking Company as a salesman and driver with 28 years of service.
Pete is survived by his sons, Peter (Tammie) Mihaly and David (Glenda) Mihaly, all of Columbus; sisters, Helen M. Grochowski, Mary J. Estes and Vera L. Horne; grandsons, Joseph G. " The Joe Man" Mihaly and Anthony D. "Tony Beboni" Mihaly; sister-in-law, Helen Strelbicki; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
