Paul V. Quinn

Paul V. Quinn, 91, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2026. Paul was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on July 11, 1935, and proudly served in the United States Navy after high school.

While on leave from the Navy, Paul met his future wife, Janice Taylor, while visiting relatives in West Virginia. The two married and settled in Akron, Ohio, where they raised their family and built a life together.

Paul spent more than twenty years as a foreman at General Tire and other rubber companies before eventually starting his own plumbing business. He was a hardworking man who also knew how to enjoy life. He frequently worked around his yard and garden and enjoyed golfing, writing stories, and roller skating with his sons and his youngest son's dance partner. Some of his favorite memories were made traveling to watch his sons compete in roller skating competitions.

Paul also knew his way around the kitchen and loved baking and preparing large meals for family and friends.

Paul was a longtime member of Goodyear Heights United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir alongside Janice, taught Sunday school for many years, and participated in the church's clown ministry. In more recent years, he was a dedicated member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church, where he continued his commitment to serving others, including preparing meals through the church's Love in Action Ministry.

Above all, Paul was devoted to his family. He deeply loved his wife, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He lovingly cared for his wife, Janice, throughout her illness until her passing in 2018.  After sharing a lifetime together, they are now reunited in Heaven.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Quinn and Margaret Alice Dodge-Quinn; his beloved wife, Janice; son, Paul J. Quinn; and sister, Carolyn Harpe.

He will be dearly missed by his sons, Mark O. Quinn and John R. Quinn; grandchildren, Nicholas F. Quinn, Christopher O. Quinn, Meagan N. Lowe, Ridge T. Quinn, and Irelynn A. Quinn; great-grandchildren, Kenny, Autumn, Lucas, Sophia, Amirabella, Adelynn, Keanna, and Kaia; sisters, Claire Beckner and Norma Diagustino; brother, Jim Diagustino; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 21, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Dr., Akron, Ohio 44312, with Pastor Paul Wilson officiating. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
