Patricia N. "Pat" Rook, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, graced this world with her presence from August 26, 1938, until her passing on September 29, 2025. Born in the idyllic embrace of Craney, Kentucky, she later found her home in Sullivan, Ohio, where she poured her heart into nurturing the bonds of family and friendship.
Pat’s life was marked by a profound devotion to her loved ones. As a mother, she exemplified unconditional love through her dedication to her daughters, Tonja (Leonard) Tardiff and Nicole Shisler, and son Michael. She extended this nurturing spirit to her grandchildren, Brandon Michael Rook and Ashley Diane-Marie Lajko. She was notably proud of her legacy, which continued through these generations, her affection ever-present as she prioritized family above all.
A retired employee of Bill Harris Chevrolet, Pat harnessed her work ethic and determination throughout her professional life, finding joy and fulfillment in her contributions. Outside of her career, she was renowned for her culinary talents, often dazzling family members with her incredible cooking skills during treasured gatherings. Her kitchen was not merely a place of preparation, but a sanctuary where love was imbued into every dish.
Pat had a zest for life that extended beyond the confines of her home. She is not in many family photos because she was the one always behind the camera. She and her late husband, Gerald W. Rook, shared a passion for travel, embarking on many adventures together, while their love for nature was evidenced by countless nature walks. In addition to their explorations, she found delight in her flower gardens, where the beauty of her plants mirrored the warmth she nurtured in her family relationships.
The impact of her caring nature extended to her family, including her nieces and nephews, and all of her sisters-in-law, especially Lavern Hargis and brother-in-law who held a special place in her heart. Pat's interests were as diverse as her love for family; she immersed herself in the art of crochet, found joy in cheering for Ohio State, and held a profound appreciation for animals, particularly horses, dogs, and cats.
A devout Christian who was an active participant in her local church community, she found joy in sharing her voice through singing with the church choir, creating melodies that resonated with the spirit of fellowship and devotion.
Pat now rejoins her beloved husband, Gerald, and her son, Michael G. Rook. She is also welcomed by her son-in-law, Dale Shisler, her parents, Charles Ottis and Maude Marie (Chapman) Hargis, and her siblings, William, Robert, Vernon, Jack, Randall, Tommy Hargis, and Peggy Philhower.
As we reflect on the remarkable life of Patricia N. Rook, we celebrate her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and her legacy as a devoted mother and grandmother. She will forever be remembered for her grace, strength, and the indelible mark she left on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
