Patricia Ann “Pat” Criss, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Born on January 3, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, to her late parents Melvin and Mary Ruth Smith, Patricia lived a life overflowing with joy, laughter, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Patricia was a fun-loving individual whose infectious laughter and sense of humor brought light into the lives of many. She had a remarkable ability to fill any room with joy, making jokes and sharing smiles. Her warmth shone brightest during the holidays, where she reveled in the magic of the season. Patricia would eagerly anticipate Christmas, scattering bells on her shoelaces weeks in advance, delighting in the festivities and the enchanting glow of Christmas lights.
Her passion for life was evident in her hobbies and interests. A lover of dance, Patricia could be found moving to any beat that came her way, embodying the spirit of freedom and joy. Thursdays were sacred to her, as she eagerly gathered on her couch to indulge in episodes of "Bob's Burgers," a tradition that brought her much happiness. Bingo nights were filled with suspense and excitement for Patricia, and once a month, she embraced camaraderie and good food at dinners with the "Acme Group" at local restaurants.
Patricia's love for her family was unmatched. She was devoted to her children, Crystal Alexoff, Jack Criss, and Renae (Carl Jr.) Dantone. A proud grandmother, she treasured her grandchildren, Sierra and Boris II Alexoff, Jacob Criss, and Kaylee and Carl III Dantone, alongside her three dear great-grandchildren. Patricia uplifted her family through trials and triumphs alike; her proudest accomplishment was bravely shaving her head in solidarity with her daughter Crystal during chemotherapy, showcasing her unwavering support and love.
She shared a special bond with her sister Sandra Richards and her brother Denny Smith, cherishing family ties that grew even stronger over the years. Patricia's heart was also touched by her beloved cousins and her favorite brother-in-law, Tom Richards, now departed, who held a special place in her life.
Patricia will be lovingly remembered for her enthusiasm for community events, especially her fondness for the Wayne County Fair and the Algonquin Mills Festival, where she could often be found at the front of the line, eagerly awaiting her favorite sauerkraut.
