Nathan (Nate) Williamson, 23, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long courageous battle with Von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL) on January 15, 2015. He was born in Akron, OH to parents Sherman Williamson and Sheri Morgan-Miller. Nathan was a recipient of Wishes Can Happen; and spoke on the radio to help raise money for the organization. He was a loved student at Summit Academy, and studied karate under Kyoshi David Ames, earning his first degree black belt at the age of 16. Nate loved building electronics, mostly guitars, tube amps, and effects pedals. He was also a long time collector of comic books and history books. He especially loved doing things with his sister Crystal. Nate was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Joan (Carmack) Morgan. He leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Sheri (Matthew) Morgan-Miller; father, Sherman Williamson; sister, Crystal Williamson; longtime love, Kathleen (Kat) Kirby; grandparents, Fred and Pat Williamson; best friend, Kevin Swab; and a loving host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the Palliative Care at Akron Children's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Palliative Care Unit at Akron Children's Hospital and VHL Family Alliance Research. Celebration of Nate's life will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Friends may visit between 6-7pm.
