Nancy Carol Nofsinger (Hill), age 81 passed away peacefully on January 25 at Hospice of the Valley in Boardman. Nancy was born on October 21, 1944, in Akron and was the daughter of the late Theodore and Laura (Poff) Hill. She was born and raised in Akron and graduated from Garfield High School in 1962.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years Russell Bennett Nofsinger, sisters Dorothy Hartzell, Mary Ann Miller, Betty Jane Hill, brothers Jack Hill, John Hill, and Teddy Hill.
Nancy is survived by her son Jon Hill (Claudia Berlinski), two grandchildren Zane Hill (Reyna Mathai) and Molly Hill, and twin great-grandsons Elton and Orion. She also leaves her sister Irene “Renie” (John) Thomas, sister-in-law Laurel Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews in the greater family. Nancy spent 17 years as a waitress at the Hilton West in Fairlawn, and 10 years as a cafeteria worker at the Weaver Industries Adult Workshops, as well as United Furniture Group in Wadsworth.
Nancy touched many lives through her smile, her generosity, and sarcastic sense of humor. She had a special bond with sisters Betty and Renie, whose collective silliness filled rooms with uncontrolled laughter. She loved the music of Elvis, Carole King, Ray Charles, Barbara Streisand, and every Saturday night was all about the Carol Burnett Show. Her grandchildren Zane and Molly spent practically every weekend with her throughout their childhood - weekends filled with fishing, running in the park with her dogs, and gourmet breakfasts.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 2nd, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where a Memorial Service will be held at 5:00pm.
