Nancy L. Calvin (nee Sooy)
Nancy L. Calvin, 97, of Akron, passed away on May 23, 2015. She was born in Wellington, Ohio on July 28, 1917 to the late Walter and Alice West. She retired from General Tire and Rubber after fifteen years of service. Nancy was a longtime, active member of Goodyear Heights United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and square dancing. She loved knitting and crocheting. Her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren hold dear the baby blankets that she made for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Sooy; second husband, David Calvin; daughters, Judy Sooy and Janie Palich; brother, Roland West; and son-in-law, Wayne Jones. Nancy will be deeply missed by her daughters, Jeanne (Dan) Putnam and Donna Jones; stepsons, Jon (Joan) Calvin, Ross (Beth) Calvin, and Doug (Lynette) Calvin; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Ruth.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Goodyear Heights United Methodist Church, 1690 Hillside Terrace, Akron, OH 44305.
