Nancy Lynn Grissett of Tallmadge passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 73 years old. Nancy showed incredible strength and grace as she battled cancer in the preceding 2 years. She was born in Akron on June 15, 1952. After graduating Tallmadge High School in 1971, Nancy worked as a file clerk and eventually worked her way up to Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Norton Company where she worked for many years. She married Gary Grissett of Akron in 1973, and they welcomed their daughter, Erin in 1978. Gary and Nancy stepped out in faith to form their own business, Grissett Electrical Services Incorporated, in 1981 where Gary worked as the owner and Electrical Contractor and Nancy worked alongside him as Office Manager/Accountant. The business had great success and was in operation until 2025. Gary and Nancy settled in Tallmadge where they were members of Tallmadge First Church of God and later, Riverwood Chapel in Kent. Nancy enjoyed crafting and home improvement projects, planning trips, traveling, and getting together with family and friends. Her and Gary had the gift of hospitality and hosted many parties and picnics at their home over the years. She had a love for the ocean and loved going to the beach with her family. She also discovered a love for the National Parks out west in the recent years. Nancy was the most gentle, kind, selfless, and sweet soul. She was always looking at the positives in life, and always thinking of others. Gary and Nancy were always side by side in work, in play, and in all life’s stages. Their love was a true partnership and inspiration to others. Nancy also greatly loved and cherished her daughter and grandchildren and she was so proud of them all. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Idalee (Hoover) Doyle, and younger brother, Thomas A. Doyle. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gary Grissett, daughter, Erin (Todd) Paquette, 2 grandchildren Austin and Alina, and brother Howard (Jane) Sayre. Thank you to everyone who checked in, brought meals, gifts or flowers, gave of their time, mowed our grass, and offered help. Thanks to Affinity Hospice and the caring staff, specifically Nurse Molly, and Aides, Nikki and Sabrina. A special thanks for her childhood friends, Mary and Bonnie, who brought care and encouragement. We rejoice in the fact that she is now healed without pain. “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord," Jeremiah 30:17. She will be missed, but we have peace knowing she is healed in loving fellowship with God. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!'” Revelation 21: 4-5. Family and friends are invited to call at Newcomer Funeral Home on Monday, June 22 from 5pm to 7pm. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, June 23 at Riverwood Chapel at 12pm; Burial will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
