Mona C. Russey

Mona C. Russey was born on February 3, 1938 in Newark, WV. She graduated from Central High School in 1956. After graduating from high school, she went into the Navy Waves Unit 21. She was employed by General Tire for 32 years of service. She lived in Akron after serving in the Navy until her death. Mona was actively involved in all of the libraries. She was the Treasurer for the Ellet and Goodyear Library. She enjoyed helping with the book sales and crafting classes at the various libraries. She was also over the AARP Income Tax Service at the libraries for the last 15 years. She was active in her church , Heart 4 the City and was a member of the TOPS Club for years. Mona enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and crafting. Everyone loved her laugh because it was contagious. She was so happy being baptized this year at her church Heart 4 the City.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Bailey; and sister, Noma Robinson. Mona leaves behind her only daughter, Lynita Russey Jones and son in-law, Jimmie Jones of Denison, TX; two grandkids, Brandon Jones and Ashlie Jones Foltermann, husband Seth; and great-grandson, Hadynn. She also leaves brother, Duane (Marsha) Bailey of Kitty Hawk, NC; nephew, Tom Bailey and sons Zach, Brendan and Aydan of Lake Orion, MI;Bobbie Stager, husband Dave of Kitty Hawk, NC, niece, Kathy (Dave) McLaughlin of Virginia Beach, VA; niece, Tina Robinson and son Robbie Volpe of Columbia SA and daughters Laura (Mike) Palmise and daughter Bailey of VA; Teresa and Briane of VA.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 11, 2015 at 12pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Family will receive friends for 11-12noon. Pastor Brett Bartels officiating.
