Michael John Fox, 35, passed away unexpectedly in Raleigh, North Carolina on February 9, 2026.
Mike was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and attended St. Matthew Elementary School and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (Class of 2008). He went on to pursue his passion for philosophy at John Carroll University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree and was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. With his love for learning, he obtained his master’s degree in Psychology from Cleveland State University. Prior to applying his expertise at Fidelity Investments as a User Experience Researcher, he had worked in Kent, Ohio and Buffalo, New York.
Although Mike was only in North Carolina for a short time, he formed a close network of friends who all describe him as a generous, kind, funny, and caring soul.
An Eagle Scout of Troop 310, Mike exemplified the Scouting ideals of loyalty, character and leadership. While often witty and lighthearted, his intelligence, kindness and genuine heart always shined through. He had a profound impact on so many lives through his friendship and generosity. Nick Selle, a lifelong and loyal friend, described Mike as a dedicated altruist, entertaining philosopher, and charismatic storyteller. Mike enjoyed reading, trivia, music, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Michael P. Fox; grandparents John and Rosemary Fox, Perry and Lillian Pierce; his Uncle Bob Pierce, Aunt Betty Wingate, and cousin Troy McHenry. He will be missed beyond comprehension by his mother Deborah Pierce; siblings Jonathan (Morgan), Katherine (Patrick), and Joseph; aunts, uncles, and many friends and family. He was especially close to his cousins Jennifer, Shon, Shorlan, and Kendall Enos; Joseph Beck, and Cassandra Knaff.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, February 20, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m., with reflections and celebration of life to follow at 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N.
