Melvin M. Lindsay, 89, of Akron, passed away on April 27, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born on August 24, 1923 in Philipsburg, PA. Melvin worked as a carpenter for Carpenters Local 639 and was a U.S. Army veteran 1941-1943, member of American Legion #0611 of Akron, OH and Elks Club in Philipsburg, PA. He enjoyed playing Poker, Bingo, reading and watching sports.
Melvin is survived by Daughter, Linda Hyatt of Akron, OH, Son, Larry Lindsay of Akron, OH, Grandson, Bryan R. Hyatt of Akron, OH, Brother, Stanley (Bernie) Lindsay of Centre Hall, PA, Sisters, Kathryn Adams of Mill Hall, PA and Elizabeth (Arthur) Swarthout of North Carolina, many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father, Irvin M. (Amanda Belle) Lindsay.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park (in the chapel), 2580 Romig Rd, Akron, OH 44320. If desired, memorials may be made to the Hickory Ridge Activities Fund, 721 Hickory St, Akron, Ohio 44303.
