Listen to Obituary

Sadly after living just shy of 100 years, Maxine Caton departed to the sweet heavens where her husband along with two of her children and one grandchild were waiting for her mighty presence. She lived a life that was totally her way.

She was born November 3, 1925 in Carmel, Kentucky and graduated from Dennison High School. Maxine went on to meet her handsome husband Gene and off they married at age 20 before having four beautiful children.

Maxine's work ethic was extraordinary and a testament to her strong will. She retired from Cardinal Plastics after 33 years and went on to work at Petitti's for 31 years. Her love of flowers and plants was amazing, earning her many beautification awards from the city. She retired at age 89 and dabbled around the house where she loved to sit at her patio on the swing and enjoyed her flowers, rose bushes, and plants until a dementia diagnosis slowly robbed her of living at home. She had a wonderful, full life from driving fast cars like a Z28 1969 Camaro to motorcycles and decided in her 70s to get a tattoo or two. She was a feisty and spunky lady and had a mouth that would make a sailor blush. Well, that was Mac for you: my Father's nickname for that curly haired girl who lived a spirited life. Rest in peace Mom. You were truly one in a million. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; daughter, Sharon Gansen; son, Mike Caton; and grandson, Brandon Borak.

Maxine is survived by daughters, Penny & (Steve) Borak and Maryann & (Rick) Scalera; son-in-law, Jim Huber; grandchildren, Jim, Kim, Kellie, Kari, Nikole, Danielle, Lauren, and Ashlee; great-grandchildren, Haley, Trent, Tyler, Alexa, and Nick. Lastly, many praises for her caretakers at Bath Manor Nursing Home: Tammy, Amber, Kia, and Lea. One sentiment I must say is for four years, Tammy's kindness, making sure her hair was perfect and lastly putting those darn jeans on M&M everyday was above and beyond!!

Per Maxine's wishes, services will be private.
