Max Kenneth Bowers, 96, of Munroe Falls passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on July 2, 2026, and is now in Heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in Pomeroy, Ohio on May 23, 1930 to the late George and Helen {Thompson} Bowers, Max was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Max graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1948, and served in the Korean Conflict, where he earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Max moved to Munroe Falls in 1961, where he worked for Ford Motor Company and Betsy Ross Foods, retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 281 in Cuyahoga Falls.
Along with his volunteer work with his fellow veterans, Max also helped to run the World Series of Golf at Firestone Country Club for almost 30 years, earning the ambassadorship award.
Max is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia "Pat" Bowers, their daughter Donna Bowers, son-in-law Bruce Harrington, daughter-in-law Colleen Bowers, and his parents.
Max's memory will always be cherished by his children Lyn Bowers Harrington, Keith (Connie) Bowers and Gary Bowers; grandchildren Nikole, Tana, Hutch, Brandon, Brittany, Kimberly, Jenna, Riley and Cali; 17 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Thursday, July 16th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday, July 17th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., when the funeral service will begin with Pastor Gordon Hayberg officiating. Well-deserved military honors will follow the service at Hillside Memorial Park, where Max will be laid to rest next to his daughter, Donna. In lieu of flowers, donations in Max's memory are suggested to Traditions Hospice of Akron, Ohio, 577 Grant Street, Suite B, Akron, OH 44311 or Korean War Veteran's Association #138, P.O.
