Maurice Antoine Vinson Jr. went home to join the Lord on October 3, 2026, at the young age of 29. Maurice grew up in Akron, Ohio and attended Barret Elementary School.
He and his family moved to Eastland Woods and he attended Seiberling Elementary and Goodyear Middle School. Later on in life, Maurice earned his GED, which he was really proud of.
Maurice spent his childhood cracking jokes, dancing, and trying his best to make everyone he came in contact with laugh with many impressions and punch lines.
Maurice's soul was saved at Maranatha Bible Church early in his childhood. Maranatha was influential to Maurice along with his cousins and siblings. They rode what they called "the big blue bus" to a warm, fulfilling environment where it was safe to praise the Lord and have a little fun.
As an adolescent, Maurice played football for the Tallmadge Blue Devils. He somehow convinced the coach to let him play even though he wasn't in the district.
Whether you called him Maurice, Reese, or even Topsides, he wouldn't give you any other choice but to love him for who he was. You may have seen him out and about during his many adventures. Reese may have jumped in the car with you and guided you on a journey you didn't even know you were agreeing to go on until you ended up on the other side of town laughing and having a deep conversation about life.
Early in Maurice's adulthood, he witnessed his best friend pass away and the pain from that as well as childhood trauma caused him a sadness most people could not come back from. Maurice fought hard to gain his humanity back. Maurice did not lose his battle. He was currently working towards a more comfortable life when his life was tragically taken.
Maurice was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Vinson Sr.; grandmother, Cheryl Magrell; and best friend, Tyler.
Maurice is survived by his mother, Tonia Magrell; sisters, Courtney Magrell, Nevaeh Magrell, and Desire Vinson-Watkins; brothers, Cory Magrell, Marquis Vinson, Deshawn Avery, and Dominic Davis Jr. Maurice also left behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was known to the kids as "Uncle Reese". Maurice was the best uncle any kid could ask for. His silly ways and patient nature gave all of his nieces and nephews a safe place to play. Torrey, Messiah, Amaria, Kahloni, Jourdaan, Alani, Kaliyah, and Aubrei are left to cherish his memory forever.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a 1:00 pm homegoing service with Pastor Deante Lavender officiating.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Courtney Magrell.
