Matthew Allen Staab, born January 10, 1984, in Akron, Ohio, passed away on June 10, 2026. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, as he was a devoted family man and a cherished companion to many.
Matthew’s life was marked by his warmth and his zest for living. Enthusiastic about sports, he found joy in both watching games and sharing lively conversations about them with his mother and father. Alongside his beloved wife Christina Smith, Matthew flourished in their mutual love of gardening, often turning their shared passion into moments of bonding and tranquility. He delighted in shopping excursions, whether for the home or for his treasured wife and children, always attentive to their needs and pleasures.
A true foodie at heart, Matthew embraced the adventure of trying new restaurants, savoring diverse cuisines with the same enthusiasm and joy he brought to other parts of his life. His home was a hub of activity, hosting family cookouts and social gatherings where laughter and camaraderie were abundant. Not just a father but an adventurer, Matthew spent precious time taking Jemini and Jericho fishing, camping, and bike riding with neighborhood children, imparting to them a love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of companionship.
Boating was another pursuit he loved, finding peace and freedom on the water that reflected his spirited and generous nature.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Christina Smith; his cherished daughter, Kaylee Lewis; and his beloved son, Matthew Staab Jr., fondly known as “his prince.” He also leaves behind his devoted parents, Cynthia Eagle and Mark Staab, who nurtured and supported him throughout his life.
Services to honor Matthew’s life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 131 N Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. A visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on June 22, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM the same day.
