In Loving Memory of Matthew John Jacobs

Matthew John Jacobs, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2025, in New Franklin, Ohio, at the age of 39. Born on May 5, 1986, in Belleville, Michigan, Matthew was a man whose warmth, faith, humor, and kindness touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Matthew’s career as a proud member of Local 23 Bricklayers and the Laborers Union spanned more than 15 years. He was known not only for his skill but for his unmatched work ethic, dedication, and reputation as a man who always gave his all. After graduating from Heavy Equipment School, Matthew discovered his true passion for operating heavy machinery and tractors. His hands built not just the materials of his trade, but also the lives of those around him, grounding himself in the values of pride, perseverance, and commitment.

Though Matthew may have seemed shy at first glance, once he began to speak, his voice could light up a room. He carried a gift for conversation, often sharing his strong opinions on politics and offering profound insights that left others reflecting long after. His laughter was contagious, his presence magnetic, and his heartfelt hugs left each person feeling special and deeply loved.

In his spare time, Matthew found pure joy riding his four-wheeler, especially in the rolling hills and rugged trails of Kentucky, where he proposed to his cherished wife, Amanda. This moment marked not only a significant chapter in his life but solidified the deep bond they shared. Amanda was the love of his life, and together they built a beautiful partnership defined by love, respect, and devotion. They maneuvered through life hand in hand, creating memories of laughter, late-night talks, and an unbreakable connection that filled their days with purpose.

Matthew’s heart belonged to his family, who adored him endlessly. He is remembered with love by his parents, David and Sandra Jacobs; his parents-in-law, Gary and Lisa Zimmerman, Timothy Cherry, and Karen Castrillo. He was a devoted brother to David (Kelly) Jacobs, Daniel (Rachel) Jacobs, Sarah Solarz, Russell (Erica) Cherry, Martina (Paul) Stevens, and Jesse Zimmerman. His legacy will live on through his many nieces and nephews-each of whom he made feel uniquely cherished-as well as his nine godchildren, all blessed to carry a piece of his love forward. His grandparents, Harold and Mable Blackburn, and Marie Jacobs, also played a treasured role in his life.

Matthew is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Jr., and his grandfather, John Jacobs, whose memories will forever remain in the hearts of their family.

Those who knew Matthew will always remember his unwavering faith, his bright smile, and his ability to light up any space he entered. He had a great sense of humor that could draw out laughter in the hardest of times, and he was deeply proud of his Michigan football team-cheering on his Wolverines with passion season after season.

Matthew departed this life far too soon, but his legacy of faith, love, hard work, and devotion lives on in those who were blessed to know him. His spirit will forever be remembered for his integrity, resilience, and the way he embodied love in every role he carried: as a husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and faithful servant of God.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Matthew’s life at Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron, OH, on Friday October 17, 2025. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM. A heartfelt Celebration of Life will follow at Uniontown Community Park at 6:30 PM, where stories, laughter, and love will fill the air.

Matthew will be transported to Michigan and there will be another funeral service at Sharp Funeral home in Fenton on Monday October 20, 2025. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM followed by services. Matthew will be buried at Fairview cemetery in Linden Michigan alongside his son Matthew Jr. The Deerfield Primitive Baptist Church will host a dinner for the family and friends following the services.

Matthew John Jacobs was more than a name-he was a steadfast presence, a devoted husband, a thoughtful brother, a fun-loving uncle, and a cherished friend. His hugs, his humor, and his faith-filled love will remain a beacon for all who carry his memory.
