Matthew John Headley

Matthew John Headley, 64, of Akron, passed away at home on April 29, 2026. He was born in Akron on July 13, 1961 to the late Gladys and John Headley Jr.

In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Eddleman.

Matt will be dearly missed by his sister, Loree McKiernan; brother-in-law, Rick Eddleman; nieces and nephews, Amanda Eaken and Dave McKiernan III; great-nephew and great-niece, Ben and Stacey Eaken.

Matt graduated from Central-Hower High School in 1979. In his youth, he loved to explore the city with friends both on bikes and on foot. Matt liked to relax by listening to 70s rock and watching action movies. On special occasions, he enjoyed a good seafood dinner at Red Lobster. When the mood struck, Matt would jump in his car and take off driving to wherever the road led him.

He was a free spirit with a dry sense of humor. He was a loyal son, brother, uncle, and friend and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 am with Envoy (Pastor) Phillip Engle officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the start of the service.
