Mary Louise Mingo

August 4, 1949 — August 1, 2025

Akron, Ohio

Mary Louise Mingo, affectionately known as Chubbie, was born on August 4, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Wilbur Roscoe Brown and Roselle D. Johnson. On August 1, 2025, God called her home to eternal rest.

She accepted Christ at an early age and developed a deep and abiding faith that guided her throughout her life. As a young girl, she attended Beal Elementary School, where she formed lifelong friendships and began to show the kindness and determination that would define her character. She later continued her education at Englewood High School where she developed a joyful spirit and a strong work ethic.

For eighteen years, Mary worked as a Coordinator at Jo-Ann Fabrics where she was respected for her work ethic, leadership and professionalism. Outside of work, she loved music, crafting and was well known for her singing, cooking, home decor, wisdom, humor, and her honest and direct approach. She instilled strong values of faith, love, devotion and perseverance in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, seven devoted children: Rickey, Dietrich, Latonya, Letosha, Lakeisha, Alonzo and Mary; one daughter-in-law, Katrina; fifteen cherished grandchildren: Tikea, Dexter, Betty, Lillian, Shaniah, Makayla, Jaynasha, Honesty, Faizon, Jamire, Alonzo, Antonio, Xzavier, Ayden and Martavin; twelve beloved great-grandchildren, J'Vontay, Stephanie, Christiana, Sariah, Kassuis, Jamiyiah, Jeremiah, Madisyn, Da'Niylah, McKenzie, Tayden and Ne'Arii; and five adored great-great-grandchildren: Skylar, Londyn, Sy'ana, Journei and Rae'lynn.

She is also survived by her siblings, Wilbur Roscoe Brown Jr. and Johnnie Jeneva Washington; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John S. Mingo; her parents, Wilbur Roscoe Brown and Roselle Delores Johnson; and her sister, Alma R. Pope.

We celebrate the life she lived, the love she gave, and the legacy she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who know and loved her.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of the Lord." - Matthew 25:23
