Listen to Obituary

On September 8, 2026, Mary Alice Lunsford went to be with our Lord.

With her passing I lost the love of my life, my best friend, and my wife of 54 years. I was fortunate to be her husband. We were married in 1972. Mary was one of six children born to Maurice and Hildred Maxine Huffman on November 20, 1950, in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia.

She is survived by siblings Ann Springston, Fredrick Huffman, Priscilla Smith, Timothy Huffman, and Philip Huffman.

She graduated highest in her class from Springfield High School in 1969 in Akron, Ohio. She continued her education at the University of Akron and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Mathematics in 1979.

She began her career at Clearview High School in Lorain, Ohio and transferred to Lorain High School. She was the finest teacher I ever knew. She was loved by her colleagues and students. She also taught at Southern Ohio College and was the Assistant Director of Activities at Essex Healthcare of Tallmadge and the Director of Activities at Mulberry Gardens Assisted Living in Munroe Falls, Ohio.

Most importantly, she was a wonderful Christian mother who raised two tremendous children: Elizabeth Wyne of Cuyahoga Falls and James "Gus" Lunsford of Orville, Ohio. She is survived also by two loving grandchildren: Conroy and Zachary Lunsford of Cuyahoga Falls.

She was a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Hudson, Ohio.
