Mary Ann Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson, 75, went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2018. She was born in Waycross, Georgia on July 25, 1943 to Johnnie Johnson and Mary Jewel Hood. Mary Ann spent her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She spent many years working in the Surgical Unit at Summa Akron City Hospital and retired from Middlebury Manor Nursing Home. Mary Ann was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She devoted her life to her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, Ralph Johnson Sr.; parents, Johnnie and Annie Johnson and Mary Jewel Hood; and siblings, Sammie Brown, Edward Hood, and Lalvin Hood. She leaves to mourn her children, Ralph (Valerie) Johnson Jr. of Atlanta, GA and Laura Johnson of Akron, OH; siblings, Gordon Hood, Arrona Hood, and Rickey Hood; grandchildren, Austen, Tyler (Bridget), Christopher, Breyana, Trinity, Lauren, Jeremy, and Dominic; great-grandchildren, Riley and Hevaeh; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bella Care Hospice and Hickory Ridge Nursing Home for all their loving care. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with visitation for one hour prior on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 940 McKinley Ave., Akron, OH 44306, Pastor Lorenzo Glenn officiating.
