Marvin W. "Marv" Tipton, 72, of Akron, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 peacefully in his sleep. Marvin was born in Akron, Ohio on June 23, 1942 to the late William and Lena Tipton. Marvin retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber in 2002 after 36 years of service where he was responsible for many patents. After retirement Marvin went to work at the National Inventor's Hall of Fame as a tour guide and he developed a real interest in George Washington Carver. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and following the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Tipton; He is survived by wife, Evonne "Bonnie" Tipton; sons, Brett Tipton and Lance Tipton. Family and friends may call on, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, with services to follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Glenn Rogers Jr. officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery
