Marjorie Ella Bauer
Longtime Akron resident Marjorie Ella "Marge" Bauer passed away peacefully of natural causes Thursday the 1st of October. Marge was surrounded by family in her last days while under the compassionate care of The Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service.
Marge was born on December 28th, 1920 in Akron, OH. She attended Garfield High School. She then continued her education at Hammel Business College. After completing her education she moved to Biloxi, Mississippi where she worked as a secretary in the US Army during WWII. She then followed in her father's footsteps, taking a position at The Daniel Guggenheim Airship Institute in Akron. After a few other positions, Marge settled into a career with The Rubber Division of The American Chemical Society through The University of Akron, from where she retired after 26 years of service. While at The Rubber Division, Marge became known as a one-person office, and was admired by everyone lucky enough to know her.
Marge loved playing baseball when she was younger and was an avid fan of The Cleveland Indians. She had many friends, but her family was always her greatest priority. She enjoyed camping and hiking with grandchildren, whom she was always proud of. She, along with her sister Grace, took three of her grandchildren into their home and raised them with patience and love. She had four grandchildren, but was known as Grandma to many more.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ana Bowen; her sister, Grace Collins; and her brother Aubrey Williams.
Marge is survived by her daughter, Pamela Bauer; her four grandchildren Tony Ciraldo, Erin Ciraldo, John Ciraldo and David Bauer; her two great-grandchildren, Kieran and Connor Ciraldo, and her feisty dachshund Trouble.
Marge will be remembered by those who knew her for her strength of will, her limitless compassion, her bright smile, and her unending selflessness. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all.
Memorial services will be held 2:00pm Monday, the 5th of October at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. To leave a special message for the family, visit www.NewcomerAkron.com.
