Margaret (Peggy) Thorla passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026 in Fairlawn. The daughter of William and Edna Bramley, Peggy was born on May 23, 1934 in Noble County, Ohio. She graduated from Zanesville High School and lived most of her adult life in the greater Akron area.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Harvey Thorla and son, John Bradley Thorla.
She leaves behind her son, William (Linda) Thorla, grandsons Bradley (Page) Thorla and Thomas (Alena Tatum) Thorla, and granddaughter, Karen (Darryn) King, and five great-granddaughters, Zoey, Isabel and Lillian Thorla, and Julia and Lucy King.
A quiet, gentle woman of deep faith, she was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family very much and always put them first throughout her life.
Even after dementia robbed Peggy of her short-term memory, her first question was always, “How are my grandkids and great-grandkids doing?” She loved looking at photos and videos of family happenings and talking about her family. We will miss her very much.
The family would like to thank the entire memory care staff at The Village of Saint Edward in Fairlawn for their loving care of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Monday, August 31st, at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd. Akron) where services will be held at 1:00pm
Interment will be held at Hillside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends making a donation to Fairlawn Village of Saint Edward Memory Care in Peggy’s name.
