Manuel John Hughes, aka "Manny", 70, of Akron, passed away on April 12, 2026. He was born on September 2, 1955 to the late John T. Hughes and Minnie L. {Dudley} Hughes Tyler.
In addition to his parents, Manuel was preceded in death by his brother J. Walter "Butch" Dudley and sister Willetta McCray.
Manuel is survived by his loving daughter, India (Damon) Moore; grandchildren R'Monee Brown, Danica Moore and Dacian Moore; brothers Nathaniel (Gwen) Williams and Michael Hughes; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Following in his father's footsteps, Manuel proudly served in the United States Navy, being honorably discharged in August of 1980. Manual, affectionately known as "Manny" was a smart, gentle spirited, quiet but cool soul brotha that everyone loved! He was so cool and laid back, with lines like "this that & the other" or "where the loot at?" You couldn't help but love Manny.
Manuel was loved and will be truly missed, especially by his daughter India.

Well-deserved military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd.
