Lucille Frances "Lu" (Van Boxel) Rhodes, 90, of Akron, formerly of North Olmstead, Ohio, Annadale, Virginia, and St. Martha's Manor, passed away peacefully at Altercare of Hartville on October 10, 2014.
She was born in Cleveland on July 19, 1924 to Irvin Edward and Estelle Clara (Zutavern) Van Boxel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R. Rhodes; parents; and sister, Dolores Gallagher. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Akron.
She is survived by stepson, Jay D. Rhodes, of Hagerstown, MD; stepdaughters, Kimberly (John) Lemay, of Rossford, OH, Kay (Timothy) Gaug, of Uniontown, OH, Rae (William) Hardy, of Palmyra, PA, and Teri (Mark) Belding, of Rogers, AR; 11 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Alice Jane Olszewski, of Berea, OH. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, OH.
