Lonnie Daniel Owens

Lonnie Daniel Owens of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on June 15, 2015 after battling lung cancer. He was born on July 5, 1951 to Raford Owens and Carrie (Abram) Owens in Hub, Mississippi.

After graduating from South High School in Akron, Lonnie worked for Honeywell before going to work for Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He worked for Goodyear at the Flight Operations division for 43 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Tina Owens; sister Carrie Monson; brother Rayford Owens; sons Derrick (Denise) Owens, Quenton Owens, and Louis Christian III; daughters Anjela (Jorg) Boos, Samantha Owens, Andrea Smith and Monique (Derrick) Morris; grandchildren April Holmes, Jasmone Richardson, Tyler Boos, Jordan Owens, Elijah Owens, D'Ericka Morris, and D'Mya Morris and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Raford and Carrie Owens; sisters Estelle Bright, Cathy Miller, Ruby Smith; and granddaughter Cayla Owens McNair. Visitation will be Monday, June 22, 2015 from 10:30 -12:30 followed by a 12:30 pm funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery.
