Lois J. Nicholson, 84, swam into the arms of Jesus on December 27, 2014.
Lois, "Nanny" to everyone, attended Hope Baptist Church. She was an avid swimmer and spent every day in the summer at the pool with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family more than anything else in the world and they loved her just as much. They will miss her deeply. Lois spent winter mornings swimming at the YMCA where she will be dearly missed by many precious friends. She will also be missed by her wonderful friends at Famous Supply.
Preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Schafer and Clifford Nicholson; and sisters, Elsie Neff and Doris Hogan. Survivors include daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Nicholson and Kimberly (Jim) Kozy; son, Jim (Diane) Nicholson; grandchildren, Jenny (Jason) Head, Rich (Kami) Nicholson, Stephen (Brittany) Kozy, Jimmy (Emily) Kozy, Rebecca (Chris) Sacramone, Emily Kozy, Shay (Jeremy) Music, Leann (Ryan) Corabi, and Cody Nicholson; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Carl) Hughes and Peggy Hartney; and brother, Bill Nitz.
Calling hours will be Friday, 4-7 p.m., at Hope Baptist Church, 1822 Highview Ave., Akron, OH 44301 where a memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., with Dr. Kenneth Lowe officiating.
