Lois Jean (nee Skinner) Bunn, 97, and long-time resident of Cuyahoga Falls, died peacefully at her grandson, Jason Leasher’s, house in South Salem on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was born April 8, 1928 in Akron, she spent nine years of her youth on a farm in Ragarsville, Ohio.
The third child of six children, she was instrumental in helping to raise her two younger brothers, Lowell and Donald, and her younger sister, Mary. She also cared for her older sister, Laura, until Laura’s untimely death at the age of 17. Lois spent her whole life raising children, her own three, and hundreds more at the Trinity United Methodist Daycare in Cuyahoga Falls, various other extended family members, as well as others near Clinton, Arkansas. She taught girls to sew on five treadle machines in her basement, plus both boys and girls to cook and do crafts.
She is preceded in death by all five of her siblings; her father, Brady Denver Skinner and her mother, Edna Laura Skinner; as well as her husband, Ivor Harry; son, Michael Leroy; and daughter, Saundra Lea Leasher.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Robert.
Friends and family may call from 10:00am until noon at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, 44305. Her funeral service will begin at noon.
Internment will take place at Copley Cemetery, 3772 Copley Road, Copley, Ohio, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
