Lloyd Melvin Thorne, Sr.

Lloyd Melvin Thorne, Sr. age 54, of Akron formerly of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 following prolonged illness. He was born on August 13, 1959 to Kenneth Thorne and Betty Ann Long (Camp). He married his high school sweethart, Toni Ross. Lloyd enjoyed Tae-kwon-do and accomplished his third degree blackbelt. He excelled in computer and internet graphic arts and designed the logo for Elshalmen Law Firm. Lloyd loved science fiction and music, playing multiple instruments.

Lloyd is survived by his parents, loving wife of 33 years Toni Thorne, children; Melissa Thorne, Lloyd Thorne, Jr. and Shacha L. Hill, grandchildren; Dekovean and Alaina Thorne and Jha'liy Melvin Hill, brothers; Ricky (Gwendolyn), Derrick (Antoinette), Jeffrey, Marvin, Johnny, Willis, Jr. and Harold, aunt Eula, uncle Greg, brothers-in law Willie, Ricky and Terry, sister-in-law Doris, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Louise and Freddy, uncle Freddy and step-father Willis P. Long, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
