Linda Rose Edwards, 71, of Akron, passed away May 8, 2015. She was born in Akron on August 4, 1943 to the late Lewis and Betty Donahue. Linda was a talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. In her free time, she loved to travel, take trips to the casinos, and bowl. Linda's grandchildren were her pride and joy and she never missed an opportunity to support them at their activities.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Gerald "Jerry" Edwards. She is survived by her sons, Gerald, Richard (Ann-Marie), and Randy (Antoinette); grandchildren, Megan, Brandon, Randy Jr., Mark, and Matthew; sisters, Sharon (Foster) Mackey and Shirley (Rick) Mitter; brother, William (Gail) Donahue; many other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Summa Akron City Palliative Care for all the care given to Linda and special neighbors, Cecil, Kitty, and Bruce Stewart for watching out for Linda.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Linda will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Summa Foundation - Palliative Care, 525 E. Market St Suite 2D, Akron, OH 44303.
