Leona M. (Beach) Hershberger, 92, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2017.
Leona was born July 17, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to the late Emil and Mary (Morganstern) Beach.
She was a longtime member of the Ellet Church of the Nazarene … her father (Emil) a carpenter built the church … where she often sang with her sisters. Leona loved playing the piano. She had a keen wit and amazing sense of humor and provided love and laughter to everyone around her. Leona loved playing games with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and simply spending time with her family and loved ones. As a domestic engineer Leona was dedicated to raising her children and supporting her husband. After raising her family Leona worked at Revco for over 25 years. Leona loved the Lord and taught her family about the goodness of Christ and shared her testimony with everyone she met.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph W. Hershberger; siblings, Waldo, Norman, Wilmer, Eugene, Edger, Delbert, Kathryn, Edith, Emily and Caroline. Leona will be deeply missed by her sister, Pauline (Beach-Burky) Cribley; children, Tom (Elizabeth) Hershberger, Dave (Hannah) Hershberger, Lorna Norton, Rick (Brenda) Hershberger, and Vickey Futrell; grandchildren, Dave (Robyn) Hershberger, Ron (Elsie) Norton, Steve (Lauren) Hershberger, Lorri (Germaine) Lillard, Mark Hershberger, Robi Hershberger, Selena (Michael) Pearce, Kirk (Amanda) Futrell, Jennifer (Will) Zimmerman, Heather (Matt) Brode, Melissa Hershberger, Cody Wilson and Savannah Wilson; great-grandchildren, Alicia Norton, Christopher Hershberger, Seth Norton, Kayla Hershberger, Alexander Hershberger, Matthew Hershberger, Devin Norton, Elijah Hunt, Matilyn Brode, Adelyn Pearce, Nathan Lillard, Noah Brode, Briella Brode, and Joseph Zimmerman.
Family and friends may call on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11. Interment at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.
