Mary Leona Amelia Experience Ryan
Leona Ryan, 95, passed away December 2, 2014. She was born in Dayton, Tennessee on February 25, 1919 to the late John and Anna Ryan. She was the last living of twelve children. Onie had a good life filled with pleasures. One of her greatest memories was working in Washington D.C. She recalled watching John F. Kennedy and his children playing in the Rose Garden from her office window directly across the street. She knew she was loved by many and was happy to repay others for the nice things they did for her.
Onie was more than just a daughter, sister, aunt, bank teller, Roadway employee, and an employee of the Department of Education in Washington D.C. She adored animals and was a great admirer of the beauty in nature. She created her own pieces of art in the many cross-stitching pieces that she loved to give away. Her talents could take your breath away and leave you filled with awe. She took the best of her abilities everywhere she went. If you were fortunate enough to hear her story, you would hear about her family farm that sold vegetables to the Campbell's Soup Co. Most of all, we got to call her our beautiful, generous, and caring friend. She leaves behind many friends and family.
We would like to thank Hospice VNS, Essex Nursing Home, Arlington church members, neighbors, and Sheila, Lori, and Arlene. Aunt Onie lives in our hearts forever. She will be missed.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Dave Bogue officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Park.
